#local4lent and #Zapmenow Event
Last Saturday I had the pleasure of being involved in co-organising an exciting event at the Corn Exchange, Leeds. The event was a way of bringing together all the local businesses involved and supporting the local4lent campaign I started on Twitter and was brought to life by Charlotte Faringdon's excellent PR skills and was in combination with a Prize Giving for a design competition for the PR company she works for - http://www.zapmenow.co.uk/
Here is an artical written in the Yorkshire evening Post prior to the event..
Charlotte did an amazing job of pulling the event together in less than 2 weeks and it really was such a success, and I'm not just saying that because of my involvement.. It was a lovely day for both the stallholders and the public, with such a great community spirit atmosphere.. you couldn't help but feel happy to be there!
From cheese mongers to handmade children's clothes, Charlotte got the balance of different stallholders just right with a good mixture of foodies and crafters. The event really brought it home to me what #local4lent is all about.. supporting good, honest people and their local businesses, which undeniably produce quality, genuine goods made with care and love. It makes all the difference meeting the people behind the brand and taking a little time to share a few words, something so lacking in today's society of big-chain brands and money making supermarkets where the poorly-paid staff simply grunt at you if you ask where the milk is! I can't express enough how much of a difference shopping locally has made to me, it just uplifts you to know you're doing something good. It may only be small, but its good.
I also shared a stand at the event with my lovely mum, selling a combination of a selection of her handmade waistcoats and bags made from recycled and vintage materials and pieces from my recycled clothing and accessory line- Ever and After.

A big, big thank you to the Corn Exchange, Leeds for hosting the event and allowing all us crazy foodies and crafters loose in their venue!

And what a beautiful building!.. The re-furb is stunning and is the perfect venue for events like ours, see the pictures below; they speak for themselves!
