A broken mind.

I recently came across poet and writer Joe Straynge online, I instantly fell in love with his beautiful, raw words... Sometimes the emotion behind those words is so much it feels intimate, painful almost to be a part of reading.
That's what I love about language, and writing.. The power it can have when we put together certain words, how it can be an outlet, a tool for connection, a voice that otherwise doesn't get heard.
As we express, we relieve the thoughts caught up in our minds, and with some hope.. Those that we share those words with may find solace, may feel comfort, connection. Without always directly communicating, we are able to feel a little less alone in the world, and just a little braver.

When I read the words of writers like Joe Straynge I am able to feel that comfort... This particular little thought he shared on his Instagram recently spoke straight to my heart -

To me; a mind that perhaps has been broken, or cracked or damaged in some way is often the mind of someone that has then sought to heal, sought peace... That process is an act of self-belief, of strength. As we seek to save ourselves we often discover the gift of life to be a much more beautiful thing. We see the beauty in the light; as we have experienced darkness and in that we learn appreciation.
A person that seeks higher levels of living, of a higher level of being.. Is the most beautiful sort of person to me. One that desires to be more than they are today, those are the ones that will succeed in living a fulfilling life.
As Joe says here - ' A crack in a door always lets light in, don't live in complete darkness.'.. That crack will always prove to be a beautiful key to a more wonderful place.

There are many quotes of a similar ilk floating around online these days, some people will think: 'oh, another quote *eyeroll*' but I am not of a cynical mind towards it. In my opinion share, re-share and share again!... I welcome those that share words. That do not silence their minds. How wonderful it is that we can speak and be heard and feel connection to other souls.

Let us never silence our souls.. Speak and be heard.

With love x
